Dream

Affirmation: “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.  Live the life you have imagined.”-Henry David Thoreau
Many of us are living the dreams of our parents, of our spouses or of society at large. We have been programmed to do things a certain way and that programming has come to us through other people.  Our religion, our culture, and our education dictate our dreams.  What would happen if you put everyone else’s dreams down and picked up your own?  Pause for a moment and think about what it is you truly want. What are your dreams?
Now that you have clarity on your dreams, what stops you from confidently chasing them? What emotions do you feel (fear, intimidation or simply an incapability to pursue)? Think of what it must feel like not only to have dreams, but to confidently pursue them with abandon. Imagine the life you could lead, the experiences you could have, the fulfillment you would feel at the end of your life’s journey if only you were willing to pursue your own dreams and not someone else’s.
Don't get me wrong. Life events may cause your dreams to change. You must give yourself permission to alter the direction of your life at your discretion. It is, after all, your life. You can change your dreams then confidently pursue them with a new-found purpose as many times as you'd like. Don't be distracted by the judgment of the world around you. Stay focused on what is right for you.
I give you permission to pursue your dreams, with confidence.  Don’t be afraid.  I won’t judge you. After all, you deserve to have the life you have always imagined for yourself.  Go ahead. Dream. Live.
