Affirmation: “I think we need the feminine qualities of leadership, which include attention to aesthetics and the environment, nurturing, affection, intuition and the qualities that make people feel safe and cared for.” -Deepak Chopra
(This letter is to my daughter, Zoe, who every day of her life has inspired me to be a better mom, leader and person.)
From the time you were born, I knew you were special. You came into the world in calm observation. You spent the first year of your life taking it all in, observing and analyzing.
You’ve been full of life ever since your first birthday.Your intuition manifested itself at a very young age. When most children were learning how to walk, you were learning how to lead.
You have always had the gift of being your authentic self. You don’t tolerate injustice and you require that we act with kindness and compassion toward each other. For that reminder, I thank you.
You won’t let me out of the house with a hair out of place. You are my confidante, my companion and my role model.
Because of you, I have learned that my words and actions have consequences. I have also learned that my words and actions can comfort and heal. I am grateful that you have taught me this as it serves me well in all of my other relationships.
You are perfect in every way. You embody strength and compassion. Your attention to detail is non-paralleled. You are wise beyond your years. You, my daughter, are simply amazing and I am grateful to have you in my life. Stay true to yourself and when you do, you will rise to the top. I will be proudly looking on.
