Affirmation: “'Thank you' is the best prayer that anyone could say. I say that one a lot. Thank you expresses extreme gratitude, humility, understanding.” - Alice Walker
I remember the first time I read The Secret by Rhonda Byrne, I was shocked and amazed by the simplicity of the message. The concept that impressed me the most is a very simple concept and it has become a part of my daily routine. Each morning, as I step out of bed, as I place my right foot down, I say “thank.” As I place my left foot I say “you.” As I approach the bathroom, and consequently the rest of my day, I repeat (right) thank, (left) you, (right) thank, (left)you, thank, you, thank, you, thank, you.
Starting with gratitude sets the stage for the rest of your day. It opens your heart. It reminds you that although you may have slept poorly, have a tight back, have bad knees or have a busy day ahead, you should be grateful for your abundance. Saying thank you reminds you that life is a gift in and of itself. Thank you is the simplest form of prayer. Thank you is the simplest form of appreciation. Thank you is the simplest form of acknowledging and accepting the life you have been given.
I make it a regular practice to send hand-written thank you notes. I don’t just send them for the material gifts I receive, but for the help, the gestures and the kindnesses that I receive as well. Sending hand-written thank you notes to colleagues, employees, friends, family and even your children will leave a long-lasting favorable impression and will make life a little bit sweeter for everyone.
Who should you thank today?
