My Blog

A great friend of mine gave me the gift of a book this holiday season. Oh, how I love to get books! (#24 on my list of gifts.)
The book,One Thousand Giftsby Ann Voskamp, encourages readers to observe the little things in life that bring gratitude. The concept of noticing the small things isn't new, but what is new is that she challenges readers to create a list (I love lists! #47) with the goal (I love goals! #48) of reaching 1000 gifts. I am currently up to 52.

I used to apologize for leading. Whenever a situation presented itself, I always seemed to gravitate toward the leadership role whether it was leading a group of my peers through the unknown streets of Paris at 17 years old or participating in process improvement project teams. I never really wanted to lead, but I always did.
I used to resist leadership, shrugging it off, not knowing how to do it well and not welcoming the opportunity.

You are what you read

Affirmation: “Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.” -Margaret Fuller
My mom is an avid reader and has always encouraged me to read. Books have been my constant companion thanks to my mom. At any point in time, I am usually reading a fiction novel, a business book and three-four magazines simultaneously.
I enjoy giving books and receiving books as gifts.  Giving a book is like offering an adventure to the recipient.  Receiving a book tells you a lot about the giver and the giver’s perception of you.
